Look above...

Sometimes, things changes, plans fall, joy fades, excitements go.
You begin to ask yourself, why? But if you look above...all worries depart.
God is always there for you.

This quote holds so much truth. At some point in life, everyone encounters all of the above....plans being changed, joy evaporating, disappointment, lost love.

The next time life is dishing you some form of change that prompts a why? Remember, look above...no matter the circumstance, God is ready to receive your thoughts all hours of the day, seven days a week.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Every day is a day to be grateful. Thanksgiving Day is an extra special day in that we enjoy a meal with family, and friends that typically are not present on a day to day basis at the dinner table. As we spend time with our families and friends today, may we reflect on all life's goodness, and give thanks for our blessings.

Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours!

Does your tween/teen Sext?

Until about a year ago, I had not heard of "Sexting". What is "Sexting"?

"Sexting" is a problem amongst tweens/teens. It can be a racy, suggestive text, a partial and/or nude photo(s) which is sent via text or, picture text.

What young teens need to know if that although they may view such texts or emails to be "playful and/or flirty" is dangerous, and could be grounds for criminal charges.

In effort to keep my tween protected; I have talked to him openly and bluntly about "Sexting". It's all about information and sharing. He knows what is inappropriate and appropriate for him to receive in text or email. Whether he agrees with me or not, at least I know 1), he knows what is considered to be, "Sexting", 2) our expectations of the privilege of him possessing a cell phone; 3) most importantly, the possible consequences with the law of such behavior and/or decision.

Something I constantly remind him is that when texting via cell phone or instant messaging, nothing is permanently gone. Think TWICE before you hit "send".

Oh the joys of being a Parent in this day and age.

Grandparents Stardust Sprinklers

Nobody can do for little children what grandparents do. Grandparents sort of sprinkle stardust over the lives of little children. ~Alex Haley
____________________________________________

October is the month that I will become a Grandparent. The anticipation of meeting my grand baby has consumed my thoughts all afternoon. Reflection has also been a part of my thoughts today.

I consider myself blessed to have experienced the bond between a grandchild and grandparent. Although my Grandparents are resting in peace, I have many wonderful memories of them. At one point in my life, one of my Grandmas was a constant in my every day life and I still have very clear memories of her. She was a Diamond! She was beautiful, vibrant, loving, & unique. What I loved the most about her is that she talked to me no matter how busy she was with life. I would sit in the kitchen watching her while she made tortillas or, cracker pudding just talking up a storm. The memory of my Grandpa on my Mom's side: he used to love to fish the ponds at Camp Hail. He would whistle non-stop, as he awaited his catch and his energy was so tranquil. I always tried to whistle with him..yeah never learned how. (giggle) My Grandpa always made me feel calm and safe. My Grandma, on my Father's side, was a hardworking, loved by many near and far, an awesome cook. A special 'lil lady that children whom she cooked school lunches considered her to be their Grandma My Grandmas were strong, amazing and beautiful women! I guess you can say that my grandparents sprinkled allot of stardust upon this once child.

The magic and love will begin in approximately 9 weeks at which time I will begin sprinkling stardust in my Grandchild's life.
