Nobody can do for little children what grandparents do. Grandparents sort of sprinkle stardust over the lives of little children. ~Alex Haley

October is the month that I will become a Grandparent. The anticipation of meeting my grand baby has consumed my thoughts all afternoon. Reflection has also been a part of my thoughts today.
I consider myself blessed to have experienced the bond between a grandchild and grandparent. Although my Grandparents are resting in peace, I have many wonderful memories of them. At one point in my life, one of my Grandmas was a constant in my every day life and I still have very clear memories of her. She was a Diamond! She was beautiful, vibrant, loving, & unique. What I loved the most about her is that she talked to me no matter how busy she was with life. I would sit in the kitchen watching her while she made tortillas or, cracker pudding just talking up a storm. The memory of my Grandpa on my Mom's side: he used to love to fish the ponds at Camp Hail. He would whistle non-stop, as he awaited his catch and his energy was so tranquil. I always tried to whistle with him..yeah never learned how. (giggle) My Grandpa always made me feel calm and safe. My Grandma, on my Father's side, was a hardworking, loved by many near and far, an awesome cook. A special 'lil lady that children whom she cooked school lunches considered her to be their Grandma My Grandmas were strong, amazing and beautiful women! I guess you can say that my grandparents sprinkled allot of stardust upon this once child.
The magic and love will begin in approximately 9 weeks at which time I will begin sprinkling stardust in my Grandchild's life.
